1. Do not leave the battery empty

Frequent emptying of the battery will shorten the battery life. If done once or twice does not matter, the battery will not be damaged immediately. But its cumulative effect will shorten battery life.

Before the battery runs out and the laptop turns off, immediately charge the battery fully. The good news, today's laptops are generally designed to die before the battery is empty. Windows Vista and Windows 7 also have settings for this, namely in the Power Options.

2. Avoid extreme temperatures

The heat can damage the battery and reduce the battery life. Therefore make sure the laptop gets adequate ventilation (airflow) when used. Never put your laptop on a pillow, especially if the laptop vent is down.

Also, be diligent in cleaning laptop vents with special tools that can be purchased at a computer store. Follow the prompts and make sure the laptop is off before cleaning. Do not also let the laptop exposed to direct sunlight.

3. Rest the battery

If you want to use the laptop for a long time with electricity, you should remove the battery. If not, you will alternately charge the battery and this will make the battery more quickly damaged.

Before removing the battery, keep the battery fully charged (or at least not empty). Keep the battery at room temperature and dry place. Do not let your battery idle for a long time for months. Occasionally use the battery so that it does not lose its capacity.

Also, do not remove the battery while the computer is on (even in standby or sleep mode). Because of the way it can make the system on the laptop to crash and damage the hardware. So unplug / plug the battery when the laptop is really in keaadan die or hibernate.

4. Dim the screen

Keep in mind that the brighter the screen, the more power the battery consumes. Set the brightness of your laptop screen to a dimmer position, at least as long as you stay comfortable viewing it.

5. Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use

Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use because this device consumes a lot of power. Also turn off the laptop sound system if not in use, in addition to saving electricity, also so as not to disturb other people who are around you. And unplug other devices that are not needed like a flash.

Try not to open many applications at once when working with the battery. Close unnecessary apps. More and more applications are run / opened then the greater the battery power consumed.
